Former savage garden singer Darren Hayes wants to adopt a child and
he'll walk away from his music career if it happens. "I definitely
want to be a dad one day I would love to adopt a kid." Hayes told me.
"I probably don't have time in my life at the moment, because of the
job that I do, but I know that once I become a dad, it will be easy
to say goodbye to music for a long time."
Hayes who was raised in Brisbane, has been living in the well to do
London suburb of Notting Hill for 2 years. He has a restored
Victorian house with his 4 year old cocker spaniel Wally and a
mystery partner. Since his split from his wife Colby Taylor, in the
late 90s Hayes' private life has been the subject of much
speculation, with fans and critics alike reading hidden messages into
his song lyrics.
Although the singer has spoken about his troubled childhood
relationship with his father, he will reveal only shards of
information about what goes on behind closed doors at Hayes Manor.
"I've learned form watching celebrities prostitute their private
lives. I'm sure that eventually, Ill be more open about my life, as
the older I get the less I care what people know." Hayes who turned
34 last week, returns to Australia in July for his first ever gig at
the Sydney Opera House. He describes the show as a mix of "theatre,
comedy, reality TV, advertising and pop." "Its a it of a spectacle,
with a lot of audience participation."
