A Magificent Show
Darren's arrival from the back of the Concert Hall was a slow
process as he acknowledged the fans he passed.
Then it was straight into Savage Garden mode with Affirmation. And
although Darren belted out many a Savage Garden tune - Chained To
You, Lover After Me, To the Moon and Back, each song had been
adapted to his style. He has a talent beyond his years, and an
amazing vocal range. Having seen him as part of Savage Garden and
solo, the transformation is evident.
He delighted with solo tracks, including Void, Darkness, Unlovable
and Popular.
And he's gone into the lonely heart's business. With a young,
single, male on stage - Richard from Nottingham - he set about
finding him a young lady - Donna from Ilkeston. They were wined and
dined (on stage) courtesy of the Pitcher and Piano and serenaded by
Darren, whose interaction with the audience is amazing.
The show was put together by Willie Williams, the man responsible
for U2's stage productions, and what a magnificent show it was. He
finished with So Beautiful. And that summed up the night.
